Childhood friends, John Doherty and Tom Struzzieri, took separate career paths after high school. Thirty years later with seasoned experience in the culinary and equestrian fields respectively, they set out to open a restaurant that combined their passions and expertise in the city they love most.
After John spent a weekend at friend and acclaimed designer Mark Zeff's BLACKBARN home in the Hamptons, the anchor of Mark's eponymous design brand, John found that the aesthetic matched the spirit of his restaurant vision. Now, co-owners John and Tom, in collaboration with the multi-layered BLACKBARN brand, present Black Barn Restaurant to New York City, where seasonal, rustic fare meets a modern farmhouse atmosphere.

A refined dining room in the heart of New York's Upper East Side, Arabelle at Hôtel Plaza Athénée provides gracious service and a sociable ambiance for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
With a storied history as the Chateau Henry IV restaurant during its Alrae days, and again in the 1980s as Le Regence, the space today is equally captivating. Gazing around the room, guests are often awestruck by the ceiling, richly paneled walls, Murano chandeliers and hand-painted Chinoserie accents.

Greetings FBAA Members & Friends,
Be part of it. With masts that are 12 stories high, you'll feel the massive, heroic nature of the boat while enjoying a family-friendly experience. Originally designed for hauling lumber, the Clipper City has a big-ship feel and lifts you high off the water. Six crew members will be hauling on the sails, while you sit back and enjoy wonderful live Jazz Music and great New York craft brew.
The Boat
With a length of 158 feet with masts rising 120 feet, she can comfortably sail 149 people the most of any passenger sailboat in the United States. You will look up and see sails that are bigger than your house. With 12-story masts, we just fit under Brooklyn Bridge by a few meters. This large sailboat has chest-high railings and provides a big, open deck (100 feet x 30 feet) with benches, hatches and a raised quarter deck where the captain steers. During your journey, we'll fly 5,000 feet of sail. The original Clipper City was built as a lumber schooner just prior to the Civil War. Our Clipper City was rebuilt from the original plans, on loan from the Smithsonian Institution, and recently refurbished. This is sure to be an awesome time and a fabulous way to kick-back and enjoy all the benefits of a summer evening sail with fellow members & friends. It would be wonderful if you could join us & member, Mark Davidoff.
Hope to see you on board the Clipper City!

Wed21Nov20183:00 pmChildren's Aid Society - 14-32 W 118th Street
Dear Food & Beverage Association Members and Friends:
This year's Pre-Thanksgiving Dinner for The Children's Aid Society will be held on Wednesday, November 21, 2018. Each year the event has become bigger and better than the previous year. All of us who participate are richly rewarded knowing that we brought joy to many who might otherwise be unable to celebrate Thanksgiving in such a wonderful way. How great it is to share our prosperity with those less fortunate.
Thank you in advance for your continued generosity and to your response to our call for help. From our first event serving 150 children and their families, to this year's expected 2000 guests including 400 children; I know that the children and parents of the Dunlevy Milbank Center-Children's Aid Society are most appreciative of your kindness.
If you would like to volunteer, please be present on Wednesday November 21, 2018 at 3:00 pm at The Children's Aid Society, Dunlevy Milbank Center, 14-32 West 118th Street (between Lenox & 5th Avenues). Phone: 212-996-1716. Near subway. Secure parking located in the rear of the Center.
Thanks again for giving from your heart.
Best regards,
Gladys Mouton Di Stefano
Chairperson

Join Us For The Centennial Celebration. Be Part of History!
For over 100 years, The Algonquin Hotel has served the world's most prolific writers and celebrities of the stage and screen. This year it celebrates the original gathering of New York's famous wits, authors and critics who in June 1919 organized a first lunch together at the hotel for what would become known as The Round Table. Their daily lunches lasted for 10 years. The tone they set during these daily meetings set the literary style of the 1920's.
While society columns of the time referred to them as The Algonquin Round Table, they called themselves The Vicious Circle. Most notable members were Dorothy Parker, Robert Benchley, Alexander Woollcott and Harold Ross, who founded The New Yorker here.Don't Miss This Special Evening. Meet Us at The Round Table where we'll sip on "Dorothy Parker Round Table Reserve Gin" aged in Sweet Vermouth Barrels that was made especially for The Algonquin Hotel. You won't find this small batch gin anywhere but here at The Algonquin Hotel.

Steven V. Gattullo
